Constitutional Law and Practice
This Course is designed as an introduction to the constitutional law of Pakistan. Broadly, the Course content is structured to cover the constitutional history of Pakistan leading up to the promulgation of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, constitutional framework for the functioning of the three organs of the State, along with an introduction to constitutional freedoms and recourse available for breach thereof. One of the main objectives of this Course is to familiarize participants with the concept of public interest litigation and the impact it has had on the development of constitutional law in Pakistan. In doing so, case studies of seminal constitutional law cases will be used as illustrative tools.
